Therapy for High Functioning Women Who Are Tired of Holding It All Together
You’re successful. Self aware. Capable as hell.
And somehow, you’re still anxious.
Your brain is constantly running in the background. Did I say the wrong thing? Is she mad at me? Did I forget something? Am I doing enough? Should I be doing more?
You prepare for conversations that haven’t happened yet. You replay the ones that already did. You can solve everyone else’s problems, but when it comes to your own brain, logic suddenly stops working.
And the weird part? Most people probably have no idea.
Your anxiety might be one of the reasons you’re so successful.
You learned how to stay three steps ahead. Read the room. Anticipate problems. Work harder. Be prepared. Be useful. Get it right.
Those strategies worked. In fact, they may have helped you build a pretty successful life.
Until they started running it.
Now you’re exhausted, but slowing down makes you anxious. You want control, but maintaining it is exhausting. You want reassurance, but it never lasts long enough. You accomplish the thing, feel good for approximately twelve minutes, and immediately move the goalpost.
That’s the part people miss about high functioning anxiety.
It works. Until the cost gets too high.
And you probably already know why you do it.
Maybe you’ve done therapy before. You know your attachment style. You understand your childhood. You can identify your triggers and explain your coping mechanisms with frightening accuracy.
But has knowing all of that actually changed what happens in the moment?
Because knowing why you panic when someone’s tone changes doesn’t necessarily stop the panic. Knowing you’re worthy doesn’t automatically silence the voice saying you failed. Knowing you’re safe doesn’t mean your body believes you.
That gap between what you know and what you actually feel is where we work.
How do we know what this feels like? Because we’ve been there.
We’ve been the high performing, anxious person who looks completely fine from the outside while internally wondering why nothing ever feels like enough.
We know what it’s like to accomplish the thing and immediately move on to the next one. To overthink. Overprepare. Stay busy. Try to intellectualize our way into feeling better. To desperately want our brain to just turn off for a minute.
And we also know what it’s like when that starts to change.
Our own experiences with EMDR, somatic therapy, and psychedelic assisted therapy showed us that insight wasn’t the only way into healing. We experienced what it was like to work with the patterns underneath all that thinking and finally have moments where our brains could actually be quiet.
That experience shaped the way Revive approaches therapy today.
We took what actually helped us, pursued extensive clinical training in these approaches, and built a practice around helping other high functioning women create that same kind of change.
We don’t just understand this clinically. We understand why you’re exhausted by it.
We’re not trying to make you less ambitious.
We’re trying to help you stop needing anxiety to fuel it.
Imagine making a mistake and moving on instead of thinking about it for the next six hours. Having a difficult conversation without rehearsing seventeen versions beforehand. Saying no without writing a dissertation explaining why. Noticing someone’s tone changed without immediately assuming you did something wrong.
Imagine finishing something and actually feeling proud before your brain starts looking for the next thing to fix.
Or sitting on the couch at the end of the day and realizing something unfamiliar:
Your brain is quiet.
You’re not scanning. Planning. Replaying. Fixing. Preparing.
You’re just there.
That’s the kind of change we’re working toward.
Not becoming some permanently regulated person who never experiences anxiety again. You’re still going to care. You’re still going to be ambitious. You’re still going to have hard days.
You just don’t need anxiety driving the car anymore.
This is therapy that gets underneath the overthinking.
At Revive Therapy Services, we specialize in working with high achieving women who are really good at understanding their problems but are tired of understanding being where therapy stops.
Our therapists are trained in approaches including EMDR therapy, somatic therapy, trauma therapy, parts informed approaches, and Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP).
EMDR can help us target experiences and beliefs that still carry emotional charge. Somatic approaches allow us to work with the nervous system responses happening underneath the thoughts. For appropriate clients, KAP offers another way to explore deeply ingrained patterns and experiences with the support of a trained therapist and medical provider.
We don’t believe you need another list of coping skills you’ll forget the second you’re actually triggered.
We want to help create change in the places insight hasn’t been able to reach.
What does “getting better” actually look like?
Usually, it’s less dramatic than people expect.
You notice someone’s tone change and don’t spend the rest of the night analyzing it.
You send the email without reading it eleven times.
You make a mistake and think, “Well, that sucked,” instead of “I’m a failure.”
You stop asking three people whether you made the right decision.
You say no and tolerate the possibility that someone might be disappointed.
You take a day off without needing to earn it first.
You get triggered and realize there’s suddenly a pause between what happened and what you do next.
And one day, you realize something that used to consume you just…doesn’t anymore.
That’s the kind of progress we care about. Not just understanding yourself better. Actually experiencing your life differently.
You don’t have to wait until you can’t function anymore.
In fact, functioning is kind of your specialty.
The better question is:
How hard are you having to work just to feel okay?
