Meet Salima:
Hello! My name is Salima Shah (she/her/hers) and I am really proud of you for taking the time to seek help! In a post-pandemic world, it can feel impossible to find a mental health therapist, especially one who has a person-centered approach. Let’s get to know each other, I’ll start!
I find so much fulfillment in creating a space of openness, compassion, and curiosity. Helping others become more introspective and feel safe in their vulnerability creates a better world one person at a time. Being part of healing our present and thus future generations is a huge reason I decided to become a therapist. I’ve seen people who have carried traumas through their lineage and decided they want to break the cycle by receiving help!
The standard “mhmm” and *therapist nod* is not the kind of treatment you’ll receive.
I will show up as another human being experiencing the depths of life just like you! The concept of therapists being overwhelmingly formal or overly diagnostic is outdated and pathologizes people who struggle with very real and painful things. It is important to me you feel seen and heard as you are. As someone in the BIPOC community, I will not shy away from the larger issues and can empathize with feeling “other”ed, discriminated, misunderstood, mislabeled, and struggling with identity. Yes, we will talk about serious matters, but it is not all doom and gloom! Humor is a part of who I am, and sometimes what’s needed most is laughter. If this sounds like a good fit, let’s set up that first session!
As I work with you, I use a combination of different theories to help you meet your goals.
I use a Trauma-Informed Approach, Feminist Theory, Play Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Relational Theory, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy(CBT) to guide my practice. You’ve gotten this far because your behaviors or beliefs provided a sense of safety and self-regulation at one point. Some of them may not work anymore or they’re no longer serving you in the way you want, so let’s work on meeting your needs in a different way. Additionally, I have worked in clinical research for many years at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and Penn Medicine serving populations struggling with eating disorders, ADHD, and physical health issues. On top of doing trauma work, reframing negative thoughts, and giving you realistic coping skills, I put a large emphasis on educating you so you better understand why you are struggling with the things that cause you distress. I find that providing you with this type of knowledge is a form of empowerment!

About Revive Therapy Services
Revive Therapy Services specializes in trauma therapy that helps you relearn how to feel and heal. If you’re ready to stop running from emotions and start feeling safe in them, we’d love to walk that journey with you. In Philadelphia, PA and Colorado we offer online and in person:
EMDR Therapy: Helps your brain reprocess stuck memories, core beliefs, and emotional patterns that live beneath the surface of your thoughts.
Somatic Experiencing: A body-based approach that helps you build tolerance for sensation and create safety within your nervous system, at a pace that respects your capacity.
IFS (Internal Family Systems Therapy): A compassionate, evidence-based approach that helps you explore and heal the different “parts” of yourself—like the inner critic, the people-pleaser, or the wounded child. Instead of trying to get rid of these parts, IFS helps you understand them, build inner harmony, and reconnect with your core Self—the calm, confident center within you that can lead the healing process.
Ketamine Assisted Therapy (KAP):A treatment that combines the medication ketamine with therapy to help people work through depression, anxiety, PTSD, or other mental health challenges. Ketamine can help your brain ‘reset’ some of the patterns that keep you stuck in negative thoughts or feelings, creating a window where it’s easier to process emotions and gain new insights. During sessions, you’ll have a guided experience with a trained therapist who helps you reflect, process, and integrate what comes up. The goal isn’t just the effects of the medication — it’s using that experience to support real, lasting changes in how you feel and cope.
Eating Disorder Treatment: Our Eating Disorder Treatment offers individualized, trauma-informed care designed to help you heal your relationship with food, your body, and yourself. Whether you’re navigating bingeing, restricting, emotional eating, or long-standing body image struggles, our team provides steady, compassionate support to help you understand the patterns underneath and build safety in your body. Together, we work toward lasting healing—one grounded in attunement, evidence-based tools, and a return to feeling whole.
