Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy in Pennsylvania
Clinically supported relief for depression, anxiety, PTSD, and more.
Have you done the work, but still feel like something hasn’t healed?
When talk therapy, medications, or self-help tools aren’t enough, Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy offers a new path forward. By combining the transformative effects of ketamine with the safety and support of psychotherapy, this approach can help you access deeper emotional healing, reduce symptoms of depression, anxiety, and PTSD, and reconnect with parts of yourself that have been out of reach. At your own pace, your own way.
We’ve partnered with Journey Clinical, a specialized medical team that works alongside licensed psychotherapists. Their clinicians conduct all medical assessments and prescriptions for ketamine, ensuring each client’s safety and suitability for treatment. Our therapists at Revive focus on the emotional and psychological process — preparation, therapeutic support, and post-session integration — so that every experience is grounded, intentional, and effective.
How Ketamine Therapy Supports Deep Emotional Healing
For many people living with trauma, depression, anxiety, or chronic emotional pain, it can feel like nothing truly helps. Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) offers a powerful shift. Ketamine works differently than traditional medications—creating space for new perspectives, easing emotional pain, and helping the nervous system access a state where deeper healing is possible. When paired with therapy, it can reduce symptoms, restore a sense of connection, and help people feel more like themselves again—sometimes for the first time in years.
Potential benefits of Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy:
Relief from symptoms of depression, anxiety, and PTSD
Many people turn to KAP when traditional approaches haven’t brought lasting relief. Ketamine works differently from antidepressants — it can reduce symptoms by acting on glutamate pathways in the brain, often creating noticeable shifts within hours or days. When combined with therapy, this relief becomes an opening for deeper, more sustainable healing.
Increased emotional flexibility and openness
Trauma and chronic stress can lock us into rigid emotional states. Ketamine can gently soften these defenses, allowing clients to feel, reflect, and respond in new ways. This flexibility creates a space where growth and change become more possible — even in long-standing patterns.
Greater insight into thought and behavior patterns
During KAP sessions, many clients report seeing their lives from a new angle — like stepping back from the usual mental noise. This expanded awareness can lead to important insights about how past experiences have shaped current beliefs and behaviors, opening the door for new choices.
A sense of reconnection with self and others
Trauma often disconnects us from our bodies, our emotions, and the people around us. Ketamine can help restore a sense of wholeness — making it easier to feel compassion for yourself, to express needs and boundaries, and to show up more fully in relationships.
Reduced inner criticism or emotional numbness
Many people live with a constant inner critic or a sense of emotional flatness. Ketamine can help quiet self-judgment and reawaken emotional depth. This often leads to a greater sense of kindness toward oneself and more access to authentic feelings.
Access to memories, emotions, or perspectives that may feel "stuck"
Trauma can fragment memory and emotion, making it hard to process experiences. In the safety of a therapeutic setting, Ketamine can gently bring forward what’s been buried — not to re-traumatize, but to help integrate and release what’s ready to be healed.
A break from chronic, repetitive thought loops
Rumination and intrusive thoughts can be exhausting and overwhelming. Ketamine often disrupts these patterns temporarily, giving clients a mental “reset.” This pause creates a powerful opportunity for the brain and nervous system to reorganize in healthier ways.
An expanded sense of meaning, compassion, or self-understanding
Many people describe their ketamine experiences as deeply meaningful. Whether it’s a sense of connectedness, inner peace, or a new understanding of their life story, these moments can support long-term healing and personal transformation when explored in therapy.
Improved capacity to engage in traditional therapy afterward
By easing emotional reactivity and opening new mental pathways, KAP often helps clients go deeper in their ongoing therapy work. It can help people feel more resourced, regulated, and open to exploring things that once felt too overwhelming.
A deepened sense of calm, clarity, or presence
For many, the ketamine experience brings a sense of calm that’s unfamiliar — not numbness, but grounded presence. This clarity can be the starting point for reconnecting with one’s values, desires, and long-term goals from a more centered place.
What is Ketamine Therapy and How Does It Work?
Ketamine Therapy — also known as Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) — is a transformative approach to mental health care that combines the fast-acting benefits of ketamine with the depth and support of psychotherapy. This integrative method helps promote emotional healing, relief, and lasting change.
Ketamine has rapid antidepressant and mood-enhancing effects, often beginning within 1–2 hours after treatment and lasting up to two weeks. It works by blocking NMDA receptors and activating AMPA receptors in the brain — processes that help create new neural connections and strengthen the pathways involved in regulating mood and stress.
Ketamine has been shown in recent years to rapidly reduce symptoms of depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other forms of psychological distress, especially when other treatments haven’t been effective. What makes ketamine different is the way it works in the brain: rather than targeting serotonin (like most antidepressants), ketamine affects the glutamate system, which helps create new neural pathways and enhance emotional flexibility. This process — sometimes called neuroplasticity — can open a window for deep therapeutic work.
We use different therapeutic modalities such as IFS, Somatic Experiencing, or EMDR along side with KAP to create change. EMDR already rewires your brain, KAP can help it rewire more quickly, efficiently, and effectively. In a ketamine session, clients may experience a temporary shift in consciousness that helps them view their emotions, memories, or thought patterns from a new perspective. When combined with skilled therapeutic support, this can lead to profound insights, emotional release, and meaningful shifts in how one relates to themselves and their past.
Rather than numbing or avoiding pain, KAP creates a safe and supportive space to gently explore it — allowing clients to reconnect with parts of themselves that may have been disconnected or stuck. Over time, many people find that ketamine therapy helps them feel lighter, more present, and more capable of moving forward in their lives with clarity and compassion.
“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”

What to Expect During and After Ketamine Treatment
Before Your Session
The process begins with a medical evaluation through Journey Clinical. Their licensed clinicians review your physical and mental health history to ensure ketamine is a safe and appropriate option for you. If approved, they handle all prescriptions and collaborate closely with your Revive therapist throughout the process. You will receive your Ketamine prescription through the mail.
From there, you’ll work with Hannah or Salima for a series of preparation and integration sessions.
Preparation Session
In this session we go over all of the little details of what to expect, how to prepare for the day of dosing session, what a dosing session looks like, and setting your intentions. Preparation sessions help you build trust and feel grounded before the dosing experience.
Dosing Session
Each dosing session is designed to provide a safe, intentional, and supportive environment for your healing journey.
Your session begins with a check-in with your therapist, where you’ll have time to discuss how you’re feeling that day and review any practical questions or updates since your last visit. Together, you’ll go over the informed consent process, ensuring that you fully understand what to expect and feel comfortable moving forward.
Next, your therapist will guide you through a brief intention-setting or mindfulness activity. This step helps you ground yourself, focus inward, and clarify what you’d like to explore or release during the experience.
Once you’re ready, you’ll take the prescribed dose of ketamine (usually in the form of a lozenge, nasal spray, or intramuscular injection, depending on your treatment plan). As the medicine takes effect, you’ll be encouraged to relax, close your eyes, and allow the experience to unfold naturally. Most clients describe this as a deeply introspective or dream-like “journey” that lasts approximately 45–60 minutes.
Your therapist remains present throughout the entire session to ensure your comfort and safety, offering gentle support if needed. After the effects begin to fade, you’ll have time to slowly reorient and process your experience. The session concludes with a therapeutic debrief, where you and your therapist discuss insights, emotions, or imagery that arose during your journey and how they may connect to your healing process.
Each dosing session builds upon the last, supporting both immediate relief and long-term transformation through reflection, integration, and continued therapeutic work. It is recommended for people to go through 6-8 dosing sessions for complete treatment.
Integration Session
An integration session usually takes place a few days after your dosing session—ideally within two weeks—so you can process and make sense of what came up during your journey.
During this session, your therapist will help you explore and integrate your experiences in a way that’s personalized to your needs. This may include techniques from EMDR, IFS, or other therapeutic approaches, depending on what will best support your healing.
The goal is to turn insights and emotions from your dosing session into meaningful growth, helping you bring lasting change into your daily life. Every integration session is tailored to you, ensuring the process supports your unique journey toward emotional balance and well-being.
We offer both in-person and remote KAP sessions:
In-Person Ketamine Therapy: Conducted in a calm, comfortable space at our office, with your therapist present for grounding and emotional support throughout the experience.
Remote Ketamine Therapy: Conducted via secure telehealth, with a trusted chaperone present in your home and your therapist connected virtually to support and monitor you in real time.
Both options are designed with safety, accessibility, and client comfort in mind.
Why Choose Ketamine Therapy as a Treatment Option?
Ketamine Therapy is a rapidly growing and research-backed approach that helps many people find relief when other treatments haven’t worked. It goes beyond symptom management by creating a unique opportunity for emotional healing, clarity, and transformation — especially when combined with psychotherapy.
Unlike many medications that simply mask symptoms, ketamine helps create conditions for deep, sustainable change. It increases glutamate — a key neurotransmitter linked to learning, memory, and growth — and enhances neuroplasticity, allowing your brain to “reset” long-standing emotional and behavioral patterns. Clients often describe feeling more connected to themselves, more compassionate toward their past, and more capable of making meaningful shifts in their lives.
Benefits of Choosing Ketamine Therapy:
Fast-acting relief: Many people notice symptom reduction within hours or days, not weeks.
Supports deep healing: Ketamine helps unlock access to emotions and memories that might feel stuck or overwhelming.
Enhances psychotherapy: The treatment creates mental space that allows therapy to be more effective and insightful.
Breaks repetitive negative thinking: Ketamine interrupts harmful thought patterns, providing mental clarity.
Safe and controlled environment: Sessions are carefully guided by trained professionals who prioritize your comfort and well-being.
Non-addictive with low risk: When administered in a therapeutic setting, ketamine is considered safe and non-habit forming.
Personalized to your needs: Treatment plans are tailored based on your unique history, symptoms, and goals.
