Oof, trauma can be so hard to talk about, let alone admit.
Our society has done a fantastic job at supporting people who've been through trauma *insert sarcasm here*
Trauma is complicated and messy...and it's not always what you think it is.
Yes, trauma can be an unexpected death, a horrible accident, or witnessing violence. But it can also be literally anything that is currently impacting you in a way that's not beneficial.
So hear me out, trauma can look like you telling that person you've been in love with for years that you have feelings for them, and them rejecting you.
Trauma can also be failing a test you studied really hard for and you end up with a big fat F.
Ok, so what actually makes these things traumatic, because you're probably saying at this point "Hannah, everyone has been through failure and rejection." Yes... AND at the end of the day, everyone is different. One person can let these things roll off their shoulder whereas another person picks up a negative message or story about themselves.
So you could interpret that rejection as "I'm unlovable or unwanted." You could also interpret failing a test as "I'm stupid or I'm a failure."
When we have these negative thoughts they tend to follow us and impact every part of our lives, our relationships, our love life, our family, our careers. You get the picture.
I'm here to help you figure out what negative messages you're still carrying around with you from the past. We then can work together to rewrite that message!
