Talk therapy is a common method to treat issues and other mental disorders. Unfortunately, studies have shown that talk therapy isn't the most effective or efficient way to address trauma.
What we do know is that we can actually use our body to start healing ourselves.
When we undergo trauma, our nervous system becomes overactive. An overactive nervous system makes it difficult to function because we are frequently filled with anxiety and are on the defense.
By using our own body we have the ability to calm down and re-regulate our nervous system.
Think of it, you can start healing from your trauma without having to even talk about it.
EMDR can also be a fantastic way to address trauma while using somatic interventions!
